Jude Peters Showing Front-Running Pace Despite Challenging ELMS Start

The first half of the 2026 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season has not reflected the pace shown by Jude Peters and his team, but with three races remaining, the championship still offers opportunities to turn strong performances into results.

Peters opened the season at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with a sixth-place finish after battling through qualifying challenges that left the team starting deeper in the field than its race pace deserved. Similar handling issues during qualifying at Circuit Paul Ricard again limited the team's starting position, ultimately resulting in a 12th-place finish despite competitive speed during the race.

The most frustrating event of the season came at the prestigious Circuit de la Sarthe. Contact before the opening corner damaged the car's steering and dropped the team three laps behind almost immediately. Rather than retiring, the team fought back throughout the race, consistently matching the pace of the front-runners and finishing within approximately two seconds per lap of the race leaders. The car responsible for the opening-lap incident ultimately finished second, underscoring what might have been for Peters and the team.

Despite the setbacks, the season has demonstrated that outright pace has not been the issue. Improved qualifying performances and cleaner races could quickly translate into podium and race-winning opportunities as the championship enters its final stretch.

Three rounds remain on the 2026 ELMS calendar, beginning with Spa-Francorchamps on August 22, followed by Silverstone on September 12 and the season finale at Portimão on October 10.

EC Sports Management is proud to support Peters as he pursues another successful season in European endurance racing, with the focus now shifting toward converting the speed the team has shown throughout the year into the results it deserves.
